چکیده

Material and methods MR images of 100 patients with enhancing breast lesions (64 malignant, 36 benign) obtained before and repeatedly after intravenous injection of Gd-DOTA were evaluated. Signal intensity of lesions (SIlesion) and breast (SIbreast) were measured and TIC obtained. Relative signal intensity of the lesion was calculated as (SIlesion-SIbreast)/SIbreast and plotted versus time to obtain relative TIC. Four parameters were evaluated for diagnosis of carcinoma: peak enhancement (PE), initial enhancement slope (S), time-topeak (TTP), and washout ratio (WO). Comparison of parameter performance on TIC and relative TIC has been done by the Student’s T test and the Receiver-Operator Curve (ROC) analysis.

Improving the performance of neural network in differentiation of breast tumors using wavelet transformation on dynamic MRI

ABSTRACT Background: A computer aided diagnosis system was established using the wavelet transform and neural network to differentiate malignant from benign in a   group of patients with histo-pathologically proved breast lesions based on the data derived independently from time-intensity profile.   Materials and Methods: The performance of the artificial neural network (ANN) was evaluated u...

Dynamic Contrast Magnetic Resonance Imaging (DCE-MRI) and Diffusion Weighted MR Imaging (DWI) for Differentiation between Benign and Malignant Salivary Gland Tumors

Background: Salivary gland tumors form nearly 3% of head and neck tumors. Due to their large histological variety and vicinity to facial nerves, pre-operative diagnosis and differentiation of benign and malignant parotid tumors are a major challenge for radiologists. Objective: The majority of these tumors are benign; however, sometimes they tend to transform into a malignant form. Functional M...

Differentiation of benign and malignant breast lesions by apparent diffusion coefficient value in mass and non-mass lesions

Background: Diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) is one of methods in evaluation of breast lesions. We aimed to investigate the apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values in breast tumors and their accuracy in differentiating benign versus malignant lesions. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 72 patients with 88 breast lesions were investigated by 1.5-T breast MRI from 2015 to 2017 in Athari...

A new approach in DCE MRI data analysis for differentiating benign and malignant breast lesions.

BACKGROUND Dynamic contrast enhanced MRI (DCE MRI) is able to reflect changes in vascularity, vessel permeability and extracellular diffusion space of tissues. The goal of this study was to investigate the use of DCE MRI to differentiate benign and malignant breast lesions. PATIENTS AND METHODS From a database, five patients with malignant and five patients with benign lesions were randomly c...

3.0T MR-CAD: Clinical Value in Diagnosis of Breast Tumor Compared with Conventional MRI

PURPOSE to explore the clinical value of 3.0T magnetic resonance (MR) imaging compared with computer-aided MR diagnosis (MR-CAD) in differential diagnosis of benign and malignant breast tumors. MATERIALS AND METHODS MRI method and MR-CAD method was used in the diagnosis of a total of 93 breast lesions of 78 patients, based on the morphological and time-intensity-curve (TIC) analysis. The accu...
